Dr. John Grady of Jesse Brown VA Medical Center

Came to speak for RRHS research symposium on Monday.  I actually found the the talk to be very inspirational. Spoke eloquently about the the

-You'll get a lot more accomplished in research if you don't insist on taking credit for it.
-Retreat Groups: Dr. Grady to this day still assembles colleagues from around the world for the purpose of discussing and improving their knowledge/methods for a variety of topics.
-Bunions: over 1/3 of the procedures do not receive satisfactory ratings from patients.  This is an appallingly high figure, especially for an elective procedure.  Making me want to investigate the topic of bunion surgeries (ie: less invasiveness, Wu syndesmosis technique etc.) much more.

-Need to contact Dr. Wu in HK re: syndesmosis technique shadowing opportunities, research opportunities etc.

-Need to contact Dr. Grady re: what is the best way to investigate the efficacy of a surgical technqiue and bring it into the mainstream

-also spoke with Joe Candella PhD candidate doing the dual DPM/PhD degree at RFUMS.  Deadline for application is early January.  Is this something I'm interested in?  Need to discuss with Dr. Intine.
